- On Sunday, April 6, we will be holding a student challenge tournament (at this time against teachers and parents) at the Billiards Cafe, 39 Main St. in Ayer. Doors will open at 11:00 for practice and sign up and the tournament will begin at noon. Once we can gauge the interest, I will set the format. It will be 8-ball and probably a doubles format. If there is an interest, I can offer a free lesson from 10am to 11:00am for those are timid about participating.
- On April 27 and May 25, we will be holding Qualifying tournaments for the Junior National Championships. The qualifiers will be hosted by the Billiards Café located at 39 Main St., Ayer Ma. It will be a double elimination 9-ball tournament. Doors will open at 10:00am and the tournaments will start at 11:00am. There will be two divisions of 14 and under and 15-19 years old. Boys and Girls are welcome. Each player must be a member of the BCA/BEF but may sign up on the day of the qualifier. A year-long membership costs $15.00. There will be no entry fee for the tournaments themselves. The Junior Nationals will be held from July 10-13 at the Student Union Memorial Center of the University of Arizona along with the Collegiate National Championships. See www.billiardeducation.org for more information.
- The BCA has launched a new billiards website at www.generationpool.com. Take a look at the players club page under photo gallery and let me know if you recognize anyone?
- The generationpool website has also offered to post video clips of players making trick shots. I am looking for about 5-6 kids to each perform a trick shot. I will then send in a composite video to the web site. Let me know if you are interested.
- Practice time will continue to be available in the IT room on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please do not forget to bring your materials folder to the the practices.
- If you have missed any of the clinics or would like to review or just practice, come to the Billiards Cafe in Ayer on Saturdays at 1:30. There is no cost for using the tables for those in the Billiard Program. There are 13 tables, so there will be plenty of table time for everyone. You can also participate in the youth league which begins at 3:00 or you can just stay and practice. For more info on the youth league, go to the Youth League page. Since the Cafe does not open to the public until 3pm, those wishing to come to the 1:30 practice and clinics should come to the back door through the parking lot in back of the Cafe.
- For those of you who would like an additional opportunity to play, practice and compete, I offer a APA sanctioned youth league on Saturdays from 3-6pm. The youth league is not part of the Harvard Billiard Program.
- All participants are required to read and follow the Bromfield Billiard Rules of Etiquette. Please print out these rules and keep them in your binder.
- During competitions and tournaments, we will be using the World Standardized Rules which can be downloaded from the BCA web site. These are the rules used in professional tournaments, both in this country and abroad.
